Crochet level:

You should know how to crochet following stitches:

• ch (chain), hdc (half double crochet).

This pattern includes:

• very detailed step-by-step pictures with written instructions.

• instructions are given in English language, American crochet terminology.

Crochet hooks:

• 3.5 mm / E-4 and 5 mm / H-8.

Recommended materials:

• # 4 worsted weight yarn (shown here Caron One Pound Yarn in Off White color, 100% acrylic, 16 oz / 453.6 g / 812 yards / 742.5 m) - 180 (210, 250) g / 6.4 (7.5, 8.9) oz for scarf, 85 (90, 95, 105, 110, 115) g / 3 (3.2, 3.4, 3.7, 3.9, 4) oz for hat. – worsted weight, 100% wool, 100 g / 3.5 oz / 192 m / 210 yards) - 2 balls in Grey Mix color and 1 ball in Winter White color.

• Tapestry needle to weave in ends.

Sizes:

• Scarf sizes: 120 (145, 170) cm x 20 cm / 47 ¼ (57, 66 ¾)'' x 8''; shown 170 cm / 66 ¾'' scarf.

• Hat sizes: Kids Small (Kids Medium, Kids Large/Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large, Adult Extra Large) / 50 (52, 54, 56, 58, 60) cm head circumference / 20 (22, 24, 25.5, 26.5, 27) cm from edge to crown, later in the pattern sizes KS (KM, S, M, L, XL).

• Hat size is determined by hat band, made with E-4 / 3.5 mm hook. It should measure head circumference.

Gauge:

• Half Double Crochet Rib Stitch: 10 rows x 13 sts = 10 cm x 10 cm / 4'' x 4'' made with H-8 / 5 mm hook. 10 rows x 7 sts = 9.7 cm x 4 cm / 3 13/16'' x 1 9/16'' made with E-4 / 3.5 mm hook for the band.
