Introduction

There’s a small hope stitched into this design. With warmer sands caused by climate change, most baby turtles born today are female. This turtle is imagined as a male. I like the idea of cooler beaches still existing somewhere, and turtles finding a way to survive and thrive.

The pattern is flexible by design. You can make it as a handbag, a shoulder bag, or a convertible shoulder bag/backpack, depending on how you like to carry your projects (or yourself) through the day. It also works beautifully as a pillow if you’d rather let the turtle simply exist and be admired.

This is a pattern for those who enjoy detail, and a project that slowly comes to life stitch by stitch - no rushing, just steady progress and a bit of underwater calm.
