Description:

​Folk art with a modern twist:

• ​Terrana grew out of my love for earthy folk-art and the freedom of going hands-free. I wanted a small bag I could wear on my back or carry by the handles - something simple and pretty. It turned into a little blend of modern and traditional that just feels good to use.

This pattern includes:

• Written instructions in US crochet terminology, charts, videos for a few rounds, stitches and finishing, instructions for lining with step pictures.

 

Size:

Recommended materials:

Yarn:

Sport/ Fingering/ 4ply

• Scheepjes Catona (100% Mercerized Cotton, 50g/ 125m/ 136.7yds)

  • Yarn1 (background): 6 skeins/ 265 g (includes 10% extra) in 388 Rust
    Including: 23 g for the bottom, 135g for the body, 26 g for the upper edge backing, 14 g for the first handle, 66 g for backpack straps/ second handle

  • Yarn2 (contrast): 3 skeins/ 115g in 130 Old Lace

 

Other materials and tools:

• Crochet tools: crochet hooks 2.75mm (for the bag) and 3mm (for straps), tapestry needle, stitch markers

• Fastening: 1 x sew-on magnetic clasp

• Lining fabric: 39cm/ 17 ¾'' of pre-quilted fabric (bag height + 5.5cm/ 2 ⅛'')

• Upper edge reinforcement: 7cm x 65cm/ 2 ¾'' x 25 ½'' (bag width x 2 + 4cm/ 1 ½'') piece of buckram (very stiff but thin backing for hats and bags) or Pellon 70 Peltex Sew-In Ultra Firm Stabilizer

• Bag bottom reinforcement (optional): 23.5cm x 4.5cm/ 9 ¼'' x 1 ¾'' (bag bottom size – 1.5cm/ ¾'' from each side) piece of plastic canvas
