Introduction

Bring the vibrant energy of the rainforest into your home with the Parrot Overlay Mosaic Blanket.

• Three Sizes: Choose between Fingering or DK weight yarn and between narrow or wide border to create Baby Blanket, Lap Blanket or a Small Throw.

Description

​

Crochet level:

• Advanced

 

This pattern includes:

• Written instructions in US crochet terminology, diagrams/ charts, videos for stitches, techniques, and first few rounds, pattern support via Facebook group.

 

Technique:

• Overlay Mosaic Crochet with slanted stitches: each round is made with one color and consists of single crochet in the back loop (sc blo) and double crochet in the front loop (dc flo).

   
Stitches:

• In addition to vertical dc, I also use slanted dc and extended dc (made one or two stitches back or forward),  decreases, increases, and occasionally, front post stitches. There is a video and explanation for all stitches.

• Baby Blanket (Fingering/ 4ply yarn, narrow border)
  Width x Height: 80.5 cm x 101 cm/ 31 ⅝" x 39 ¾"

• Lap Blanket (Fingering/ 4ply yarn, wide border)
  Width x Height: 89 cm x 110 cm/ 35" x 43 ¼"

• Small Throw (DK/ 8ply yarn, narrow border)
  Width x Height: 104.5 cm x 131.5 cm/ 41 ⅛" x 51 ¾"

Scheepjes Whirlette (60% Cotton x 40% Acrylic, 100g/ 455m/ 497.6yds)

To use all 27 colors, use first (second, third) of 27 colors for 5 (5, 4) Yarn1-rows, then repeat this sequence to the end of the blanket. When the color section in the first Whirl ends, use the same color from the second Whirl for the remaining portion of one color section.

Dividing: 
Pull out from the inside 283g of dark yarn and start using it as Yarn2 from the dark blue (240g) and then as Yarn6 for the border (34g). Remaining amount was 9g, but if more needed, the end matches Scheepjes Whirlette in 865 Chewy.
Use rem lighter portion of MegaWhirl (383g) as Yarn1 starting from the white outside (262g) and continue using it as Yarn5 from dark blue to light blue (105g).  Remaining amount was 16g, but if more needed, the end matches Scheepjes Whirlette in 866 Bubble.
